Play dates can be daunting and stressful especially when you have never planned one before. Not to worry, we have created easy tips to planning a play date
To plan a play date ask your child who his/her close friends are in school. Ensure your child has a good relationship with the chosen kids before taking it further. Approach the chosen kids parents, build rapport with then and invite them for a play date. Always start with a small group between 1-2 kids. For the first date you can suggest to meet in a more structured settings for a short period of time to ease you into the idea. or library. If you are comfortable with the play dates you can always initial that the first one in your house. If you decide to organise the initial play date at your house, here are some helpful tips to make it a successful one.
1. Come up with a timed fun activity plan with your child. They do not necessarily need to follow this but in case they get bored the have some ideas to refer to.
2. Have snacks and meals prepared to feed the little munchkin for when they get peckish. Please ensure you understand every kids dietary requirements and allergies to avoid any incidents
3.Ensure all play areas are kid friendly and safe
4. Have emergency contacts if it’s a drop off play date but for the first play date, it is advisable that the carer of the kids are present
5. While the kids are bonding, make an effort to interact with the adults and get to know them especially as the kids get along. It will help to have a good relationship with your child’s best friend’s mom/dad
6. Make the experience fun and memorable. This way you will leave everyone wanting more and you can be sure of making new friends and getting a second play date invite.
