I understand that most people do not know the right words to say to parents of children with down syndrome. We are probably trying to sound nice but in the end, we may be causing more harm than good.
The best thing you can say to a parent with down syndrome is saying nothing at all.
Every child is a gift from God. There is no point stating that down syndrome kids are from God.
You never know what you can handle until life throws it at you. This means there is no need for things like “i could never do what you do, you are a hero” to a parent with autistic children who never wished for, yet do al they can to love their kids. “You are doing a great job” will be fine.
In trying to encourage parent of kids with down children please don’t say things like “She looks almost normal, she doesn’t look like she has down syndrome”.
