PREGNANCY WEEK BY WEEK:1 – 2 WEEKS PREGNANT

1 and 2 weeks pregnant

Though some women swear that they were aware of the “moment of conception”, most are oblivious. The radical hormonal changes of the first trimester don’t kick in until implantation, which happens between 3 to 5 days after conception. If you’ve been trying to get pregnant, or not, you may be waiting on the edge of your seat until a test can confirm your pregnancy.

1-2 WEEKS PREGNANT

Most doctors confirm pregnancy starting from the first day of your last period. The main reason for this is because ovulation and conception are tough to pinpoint but menstruation is easier to notice. The 1st week of your missed period is your first week of pregnancy.

Although in WEEK 2 you might not feel pregnant but your body is producing a lot of pregnancy hormones and your baby is starting to growing, how exciting!

Your baby’s organs are beginning to form and based on how pregnancy is calculated, you are possibly one month pregnant already! Yes, this is possible but your doctor will give you a more accurate estimate.

1-2 WEEKS PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS

REMEMBER at this early stage, the symptoms you’re experiencing are those typical to your period, these symptoms may last from three to seven days and can include:

Slight Vaginal bleeding

Lower back pain and cramps

Bloating

Mood swings

Headache

Tender swollen breast

Fatigue /faintness/dizziness

Cravings

Missed Period

Nausea with or without vomiting

REMINDERS:  

      • Eat healthy: Ensure your diet is filled with nutrient-rich fruit and vegetables.
      • STOP unhealthy habits such as smoking, drinking and excessive caffeine.
        • Take pre-natal vitamins: The world health organisation recommends daily intake of oral iron and folic acid supplementation with 30 mg to 60 mg of elemental iron and 400 µg (0.4 mg) folic acid for pregnant women to prevent maternal anaemia, puerperal sepsis, low birth weight, and preterm birth.
