Woman Crush Wednesday: Chido Govera is a Zimbabwean farmer, campaigner, and educator
She founded her foundation, Future of Hope to reach out to as many Africans as she can through Mushroom farming. She was introduced to mushroom farming when she was just 11. Govera had a rough childhood because she was orphan and had to struggle for survival at the tender age of 7. Her traumatizing childhood experience gave her the passion to protect the rights of all orphans when she grew up.
Her foundation has successfully trained 1,000 people on mushroom farming in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, and Cameroon. They have also reached out to communities beyond Africa, such as India, Australia Aboriginals, Europe, and the United States.
In 2009, Govera received the “Sustainability Award” by the Specialty Coffee Association of America. She also won the Yo Dona magazine “Humanitarian award” in 2011. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
